Alumni News

After a strong spring semester, the Chapter carried its momentum through the summer and into the formal rush week. Led by our Rush Captains, the Chapter signed its largest pledge class since re-installation in 2009. The 49 man pledge class is evidence that Alpha Nu is continuing on the right path. Along with these outstanding recruitment efforts, the Chapter has made several house improvements over the course of the summer. The renovations were made possible because of the efforts put forth by the brothers of the active chapter. With our published newsletter we hope to share with you some of the great things we’re experiencing as a result of the growing Alumni support we’ve received since being reinstalled.

Rush Week Alumni Meet & Greet

On August 25th, the active Chapter welcomed former Grand Consul L. Wayne Tucker and many. Austin area Alumni for a meet-and-greet dinner with the fall pledge class. The event gave the pledges, as well as the active chapter, an opportunity to catch up with the alumni and hear great stories about their Sigma Chi experience. Brother Tucker closed out the night with a fantastic speech about how rewarding his Sigma Chi experience has been and shared with the pledges what they have to look forward to. The Chapter enjoyed hosting the alumni and was excited to gain their approval of the incoming pledge class.

Fight Night 2012

We are very excited for the return of our annual Fight Night event on November 2nd, 2012. This year’s amateur boxing event will benefit Texas 4000 and the YMCA of Austin. A huge success in years past, we plan on raising as much money as we can to benefit our philanthropies. We are proud to have DMX performing after the fights this year. We would love to have as many Austin and surrounding area Sigma Chi alumni attend as possible. So dust off those boots, grab your beautiful wife or girlfriend, call your pledgebrothers and head on over to Alpha Nu house to enjoy this experience with us! Please contact Brad Stewart at bstew92@gmail.com for VIP tickets and more information.

Alumni Weekend

This fall, we are hosting a dinner with drinks this October. At last year's Alumni Weekend, we dedicated a plaque to Tim Aynesworth for serving Chapter Advisor for the past four and a half years. At his dedication, we unveiled the recently renovated library. Below are pictures of what our new Alumni library looks like. We are very proud to now have a place to dedicate plaques, pictures, and Sigma Chi memorabilia to outstanding Alum. During that weekend, we also got to fire up our new grill and smoker graciously donated by our members in Texas Cowboys.

Very proud of our new house improvements, we are looking forward to another awesome year at the Alpha Nu House. With such a huge pledge class and dedicated Alumni coming out from all over to extend their support, we know there are no limits to where this Chapter can grow. Thanks for reading, and guard well! We look forward to seeing you soon.

In Hoc,
The Alpha Nu Chapter of Sigma Chi
